Inspiration
Entrelazado's founder and principal designer, Susan Ballek, marries her perennial fascination with period furniture and bespoke leather goods in this new luxury home decor venture. Susan's dynamic integration of woven textiles with furniture design draws on her academic training as a sculptor and her broad knowledge of fine and decorative arts honed from an extensive career at museums and galleries.
A life-long equestrian, Susan’s interest in leatherwork as an art form developed when she met her husband, international Show Jumper Imanol Echeverria. Frequent trips to Spain and the opportunity to meet Guarnicioneros in their workshops sparked a desire to experiment with traditional leathersmithing tools and techniques at her own workbench.
The finished product merges artisanal craft with modern design for an inventive twist on upholstered leather seating.
